Bữa sáng kiểu Đà Lạt. Xíu mại trong nước dùng nóng kèm bánh mì để chấm — là một tô chứ không phải ổ kẹp, và cả thành phố ăn món này lúc 7 giờ sáng.

Lẩu gà lá é — loại rau rừng thơm chỉ mọc ở vùng này. Quán gốc, và là món đúng bài cho buổi tối lạnh Đà Lạt.

Nem nướng tự cuốn với bánh tráng, rau sống và chuối chát. Ở đây nhận thẻ — hiếm với quán ăn đường phố tầm giá này.

Bánh căn đổ khuôn đất kèm trứng cút. Địa chỉ kinh điển, và lối vào qua sân cũng là một phần trải nghiệm.

Bánh tráng nướng với trứng, tôm khô và hành lá — món “pizza Việt Nam” sinh ra ở đây; ăn đứng là ngon nhất.

Sữa đậu nành nóng kèm quẩy, vẫn ở đúng góc phố ấy suốt bốn mươi năm. Chỉ bán buổi tối, lúc nào cũng phải xếp hàng.

Xưởng rang kiêm quán lớn nhất thành phố, khu rang nhìn thấy ngay từ bàn. Đà Lạt và Cầu Đất trồng arabica chứ không phải robusta như phần còn lại của Việt Nam — ngồi đây sẽ thấy rõ khác biệt.

Hợp tác xã của nông hộ: khoảng 120 hecta và hơn 60 hộ liên kết, rang nhiều vùng nguyên liệu. Cà phê hạt 145–450 nghìn ₫ một gói nếu muốn mang Đà Lạt về nhà.

Nông trại gia đình của người K'Ho: arabica hữu cơ từ giống những năm 1940, hợp tác xã gồm 50 hộ. Trải nghiệm cà phê sâu sắc nhất quanh Đà Lạt, và tiền ở lại với buôn làng.

Da Lat has no international hospital — no FV, no Vinmec, no Family Medical Practice. Vinmec Nha Trang at 137 km is the closest, and materially faster to reach than Saigon.

Opened October 2025, part of a 170-clinic national chain. Vaccinations, paediatric consultations, labs and a play area. The newest paediatric option in the city.

The biggest chain in Vietnam with roughly 2,100 stores. Paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistamines, loperamide and omeprazole are all freely available.

Longest opening hours of any vet in town — vaccination, deworming, surgery, dental, plus food and accessories. Phone 0986 132 381.

Russia, South Korea, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Japan all get 45 days visa-free for any purpose, valid to March 2028.

Open to every nationality since 2023, up to 90 days. Multiple entry at $50 is usually the sensible buy if you plan any regional travel.

Every foreigner's address must be declared within 12 hours of arrival. It is your landlord's or hotel's legal duty, not yours — but it is your problem if they skip it.

This is where a foreigner in Da Lat goes for anything involving their stay: extending a visa, applying for a temporary residence card, dealing with a lost passport or a registration problem. Applications are handed in and documents collected at the province's one-stop administrative centre at 19 Tran Phu, in the middle of town — you do not need to go anywhere else for ordinary matters.

Viettel has the most consistent coverage in the highlands. On the passes and farm roads the other networks drop out and Viettel does not.

VPBank and Eximbank are usually the cheapest for foreign cards — VPBank has been reported as free with a 10,000,000₫ per-transaction limit. Vietcombank is the most common and the worst value at 50–66k with a 2–3M cap.

Da Lat has no real dedicated coworking space. What exists are café hybrids: One More's third floor, The Married Beans workspace on Yersin, Trang Coworking on Pham Ngoc Thach.

Ten to twenty thousand a kilo, and most shops collect and deliver free. Giat Say Nhanh 247 at 125 Ha Huy Tap is among the cheapest.

KUN Barber Shop is the top-rated in town at 80k with nearly a thousand reviews. Bom Barber Shop starts at 50k. Most are open 08:00–19:00.

No international chain operates in Da Lat — these are local gyms and they are cheap. A 60-minute massage runs 250–400k at a mid-range spa.

Pickleball courts under a roof, so rain doesn't cancel the game — which in Da Lat solves half the problem. Paddles are available to rent, so you don't need your own gear.

A dedicated coworking rather than a cafe with wifi: proper desks, chairs you can sit in for eight hours, and a quiet room — the thing missing from every cafe in town.

Opens at five in the morning — earlier than any other cafe in town — so it is where you wait out the gap between a night bus and check-in. Card payment, clean toilets, wifi, and coffee that tastes the same as at home.

Useful when a child refuses local food, or when you just want a taste you know. The menu is the one you are used to, plus rice dishes and a fried chicken line.

The Vietnamese chain that behaves like a European one: air conditioning, sockets at every table, English menu, open till eleven. Useful when the independent cafes have closed.

The city seen from above: a rooftop over the tenth floor with the whole valley in front of you. Open from six in the morning, so the sunrise view costs the price of a coffee.

Specialty coffee roasted on the premises — the kind of place where the barista can tell you which farm the beans came from and how they were processed. In a city built on coffee that is rarer than it sounds: most cafes here sell the view, not the cup.

A garden cafe with cats and a view of the old railway line — the answer to a rainy afternoon with a child who has run out of patience. Adults get coffee, the child gets cats.

A boutique-format private kindergarten: small groups, classes in English and Vietnamese, its own enclosed playground and craft rooms. It sits inside the Golf Valley villa compound, where there is no through traffic — walks do not happen along a highway.

The place to go in Da Lat if you want coffee the European way: cappuccino and latte pulled on an espresso machine, not the phin drip with condensed milk that most cafes around here serve. There is no kitchen — the only food is cookies, four kinds in glass jars on the counter, and a small shortbread one comes with every cup.

A bakery-cafe in a garden: behind a wooden gate under a canopy of vines there is a yard, and at the back a room with a long counter of pastry and desserts. Come for the cocoa and the sweet things, not for the coffee. Inside it is decked out like Christmas, so it also works as a place to sit out the rain.

Free guarded motorbike parking at the GO! hypermarket, with the entrance off Lam Vien Square. It is about a kilometre from here to the central market — fifteen minutes on foot — so you can leave the bike and walk the centre, where there is nowhere to park at all.

A drawing studio for children: one long shared table, paints and easels, and a wall hung with the pupils' own work. Besides paper they paint plaster figurines — whole shelves of them, and the child picks their own. While the lesson runs, the parent has somewhere to sit: the studio has its own coffee counter.

A cafe in a glass pavilion in the middle of a green yard: a greenhouse frame, wooden tables, and nothing in the windows but trees and a wall under vines. The second room is wooden, with tubular leather armchairs and paper lamps shaped like fish. The yard itself is dressed as Japan — koinobori carp streamers over the roof, a concrete Totoro with a yellow umbrella, a Japanese bus-stop sign by the entrance.

A night show staged inside the pine forest around Ho Than Tho — the Lake of Sighs, the old tourist area reopened as a light park. The trunks are lit from below, and between them stand a tunnel of flowers, arches and wings several metres high, with hydrangea beds along the paths. This is an evening in itself, not a photo stop — everyone we know who has been came back impressed, without exception.

A roastery cafe: an espresso machine and a pour-over station behind the bar, brewing posters on the wall, and a menu with a page of its own drinks — cold brews on local fruit and coffee with almond. Upstairs is a wooden room with tall windows into the greenery, bookshelves and soft benches: a place people sit in for hours, not a five-minute stop.

A covered playground for children with a cafe at the entrance: a wooden house with a tube slide, a netted climbing maze and a ball pit, a rope obstacle course on artificial grass and a caged pitch for football and basketball. There is also a table where children paint plaster figurines — the shelves of them stand right beside it. Stools are lined up along the glass for the parents, so the whole floor is in sight.

A park nine kilometres north of town, at the foot of Lang Biang. You go in under an arch shaped like a giant tree, and behind it are gardens with a koi pond you can feed, waterfalls, a square for the gong performance, a K'Ho craft village with folk costumes for hire, a go-kart track and a small animal enclosure — raccoons, rabbits, goats. The map at the entrance lists more than twenty points, so walking the whole of it takes half a day.

A chocolate house in a wooden chalet on the way to Lang Biang: counters of bars and own-brand cocoa powder, a hall where a class runs — the screen walks you through the cacao varieties (criollo, forastero, trinitario) and you taste as you go — and tables where you can simply sit with a cup of their own chocolate. In the same grounds there is the Balava restaurant with pizza, pasta and grilled chicken, and a meadow where they give horse rides.

They bring bottled drinking water to your door — this is the supplier we use ourselves. You order by message rather than by phone: the address and the number of bottles go in text, which settles the matter if you do not speak Vietnamese.

Indoor pickleball courts: several of them in a row under a metal roof, nets, ball baskets and a pink panther painted across the wall. They coach children and adults alike, with group sessions and open play running side by side. The courts are roofed, so rain does not cancel the game.
