Extending your stay from Da Lat in 2026: what actually gets extended

Two different things get mixed up here. A visa is extended; a visa-free stay is not. Russians, Germans, French, Italians, Spanish, Britons, Japanese, Koreans, Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and Finns enter Vietnam for 45 days without any visa at all — and when those days run out, there is nothing in your passport to extend. What to do instead, and where papers are taken in Da Lat.

45 days is not a visa Visa-free entry for citizens of twelve countries, Russia among them, gives up to 45 days from the date of entry — government resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025, in force from 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028. Those days cannot be extended at the immigration office: an extension (gia hạn) is a procedure for a visa, and you do not have one.
1 Re-enter quick, but it adds up

Leaving and coming back resets the counter: another 45 days from the new stamp. From Da Lat that is a trip of its own — routes, times and prices are in the visa-run piece.

2 Get an e-visa up to 90 days $25–50

The e-visa is issued on the immigration service site evisa.gov.vn: up to 90 days, $25 single entry and $50 multiple entry. The fee is non-refundable, including on refusal. A visa is a document you can extend later.

  1. Apply only at evisa.gov.vn — lookalike sites charge extra for the same form.
  2. Your passport must be valid for at least six months.
  3. The e-visa arrives as a file by email — print it, the border asks for it.
3 Extend the visa without leaving only if you already hold a visa

Extensions are handled by the immigration management office of the provincial police. File before your current stay ends, not after: an expired day is a violation, not a delay.

  1. In Da Lat papers are taken and returned at the single-window desk: 19 Tran Phu, Xuan Huong.
  2. The office itself moved on 20 March 2026 to 210 Quoc Lo 20, Duc Trong commune — you do not go there for a routine filing.
  3. Provincial police phones: 02633 822 043 and 0693 446 109.
Start early Visa agencies advise filing at least a week before your stay ends and allowing 5–10 working days for processing. We have not verified those timings and do not vouch for them — but keep a week of slack anyway: your passport is out of your hands while the case is open.

What you will be asked for in any case

The visa-free regime is government resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025, running 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028. E-visa fees come from the evisa.gov.vn portal. Addresses and phones are from the Lam Dong provincial police notice of 14 March 2026 about the office move. Checked on 8 August 2026. Processing times and agency prices are unverified and not quoted here.
