What a month in Da Lat costs
By our own checked prices, a month for two starts at 15.5M₫ — about 590 dollars at 26,300₫. That covers a boutique hotel room, sixty lunches, a scooter, electricity and home internet. Below is how the figure breaks down and where the spread begins.
The floor for two: 15.5M₫
We count the bottom of each range — what we actually saw, not an average of everything.
- Housing — 10M₫: a boutique hotel room by the month, cleaning and linen included.
- Food — 3M₫: sixty 50,000₫ lunches in a cheap eatery, that is twice a day without cooking.
- Scooter — 1.8M₫ a month. The same bike is 100,000–160,000₫ a day, so the monthly rate pays off in a fortnight.
- Electricity — about 500,000₫ for two.
- Home internet — 190,000–195,000₫ for a 300 Mbit fibre line.
Housing: from a room to a house
- A boutique hotel room by the month — 10M₫ ($380). Taken from the property itself on 5 August 2026, not from a listing.
- A whole five-bedroom house — 22M₫ a month ($830). For a family or two couples.
- Utilities on a whole house — about 1M₫ a month on top: water, power, rubbish.
- There is no central heating. In winter the power bill is driven by a space heater, not an air conditioner.
Groceries: a week's basket
Checked at the market and the supermarket on 5 August 2026. Vegetables cost a fraction of meat here — this is highland farming country, and half of what Ho Chi Minh City eats grows around this town.
- Eggs: ten regular 26,000₫, six farm eggs 23,000.
- Rice: a 5 kg bag of ST25 99,000₫, brown rice 44,000 a kilo.
- Meat per kilo: pork on the bone 99,000₫, chicken breast 101,000, beef brisket 245,000, beef round 317,000.
- Produce: cabbage 14,000₫ a kilo, oranges 18,000, a bunch of bananas 19,000, a corn cob 15,000, a bunch of herbs 5,000.
- Water: twelve 1.5-litre bottles 89,000₫. Nobody drinks the tap water here.
- Coffee for home: 500g of ground robusta 64,000₫, mocha 82,000.
Eating out
- Lunch in a cheap eatery is about 50,000₫; a bowl of phở 40,000–60,000.
- Bánh mì with meatballs, the local breakfast, is 15,000–25,000₫.
- Dinner for two at a mid-range restaurant, three dishes, about 528,000₫ ($20).
- Coffee at a cafe that roasts its own beans is 40,000–70,000₫; at a street cart 20,000–30,000.
- A European-style breakfast is its own line item: 125,000–235,000₫ a head.
Transport, connection, chores
- A scooter is 1.8M₫ a month, petrol 22,900–24,700₫ a litre. One tank lasts a week of town riding.
- Grab bike, three kilometres, 25,000–40,000₫; by car 55,000–75,000. A metered taxi is 12,500–14,500 a kilometre.
- A SIM with 7 GB a day is 135,000₫ a month.
- Laundry is 10,000–30,000₫ a kilo, a men's haircut 50,000–120,000.
- A gym is 200,000–500,000₫ a month, an hour of massage 250,000–400,000.
