Langbiang: climbing the mountain the town looks at
Langbiang is visible from anywhere in Da Lat, and there are three ways up: take a jeep to Radar Peak, walk to the same point in an hour and a half, or head for the real summit at 2,167 m — seven kilometres and half a day. Entry is 50,000₫ and the ride from town is twelve kilometres, about half an hour. Here is how to choose and when a guide is worth it.
Three ways up
- A jeep to Radar Peak is the quickest: the cars wait at the gate and run up the switchbacks. At the top there is a viewpoint, a cafe and the view over the Lac Duong valley. The option with kids or parents.
- On foot to Radar Peak — 2.5 km and an hour and a half up, part tarmac part dirt. No guide needed, there is only one way.
- The real summit at 2,167 m — seven kilometres and four to five hours one way. That is proper trekking: the trail runs through forest, markings are sparse, and it turns slick in the rain. People take a guide and set off early.
What it costs
- Entry is 50,000₫, open 07:00–17:00.
- A bike from town is 100,000–160,000₫ a day plus a litre or two of petrol: twelve kilometres on decent road through Lac Duong.
- Guided trekking: Dalat Tours runs the climb from 540,000₫; Pine Track Adventures leads the summit route but does not publish a price — they quote in chat. Prices from the sites as of 23 August 2026.
What to know before you go It is about five degrees colder up there than in town, and the wind takes off more — a jacket is needed even in July. Leave before eight: by midday the valley hazes over and the view you came for is gone. Skip the summit without a guide not because it is hard but because of coverage: the phone works on and off, and losing the trail is easier than it looks. And no, Langbiang is not the place for cloud hunting — that happens at Cau Dat or Hon Bo.

They run canyoning at Datanla, SUP on Tuyen Lam lake, trekking and overnight camping. Cheaper than most: a canyoning day is $52, the extended version with more descents $73.

The range is wider than anyone's: besides canyoning there is mountain biking, overnight trekking and multi-day rides to the coast, to Nha Trang and Hoi An. Roughly half again as expensive as the competition, deliberately: own gear, English-speaking guides, insurance.

Da Lat, pick-up from the centre

Canyoning at Datanla for 1,390,000₫ a head, with hotel pick-up in the centre and a ride back. Groups run 2–12 people with two to five guides — the ratio worth asking any operator about: it, not the price, decides how long you queue at each descent. Gear, lunch, water, entrance fees and photos are included.

Da Lat, hotel pick-up
A small outfit grown out of Phat Tire: some of the guides came from there. On Tripadvisor it rates 4.7 across 213 reviews (checked 23 August 2026) — fewer than the big names, but consistent. They run mountain biking, rafting, the Langbiang summit, canyoning and multi-day rides to the coast.

Da Lat, group and private departures

Group tours cost about half; private ones run to your plan — a walk through the French architecture, coffee and flower farms, Langbiang, Pongour falls, the Valley.

They run both sightseeing and active trips: the city with the cable car and the old station, the countryside with a silk factory and a coffee plantation, three waterfalls, cycling days and a motorbike tour. They answer in English, Korean and on Zalo.
