Breakfast and brunch in Da Lat: where, when and for how much
A European breakfast in Da Lat runs from 30,000₫ a dish to 235,000 for a plate with sausages, bacon and beans. The local catch is not the price but the clock: breakfast kitchens shut at three or four in the afternoon, and most of the centre goes dark by nine. Here is who serves what, and when to turn up.
The full plate
- The Oliver Cafe, 89a Nguyen Van Troi — full breakfast 215,000₫, three benedicts 185,000–235,000, omelettes and croque monsieur 155,000, sourdough toasties 125,000–145,000. The kitchen runs 07:30–15:00, the cafe itself 07:00–22:00.
- Moto Laurie, 8 Ngo Thi Si — breakfast 195,000–265,000₫, brunch until 16:00: a big English, shakshuka, benedict with salmon and a separate vegan menu. The upper room has full-height windows over the roofs. Closed Mondays.
- The Chimney Bistro, 39/15 Ngo Quyen in Cam Ly — 45,000–215,000₫ a head: eggs your way, pancakes, French toast, their own baking. 07:00–21:00, until 22:00 at weekends.
Breakfast without the tourist markup
- An Cafe, 63Bis Ba Thang Hai — 30,000–55,000₫ a dish: eggs any way, avocado toast, muesli and yoghurt. Open 07:00–22:00, ten minutes from the lake.
- One More Cafe, 77 Hai Ba Trung — 45,000–120,000₫ a head, Australian brunch, burgers and pasta; the third floor is set aside for working.
- Anna's Coffee House, 9B Dong Da — 40,000–120,000₫ a head, mountain view, sockets and 35 Mbit wi-fi.
- Brew and Breakfast, 2 Tran Hung Dao — British, American and Mexican plates in a French villa above the centre, 08:00–21:00. We did not note the prices.
If it is just coffee and pastry
- Croissant in Dalat, 15A Tran Hung Dao — croissants and coffee, 45,000–65,000₫ for a cup or a croissant.
- Blue Dream Bread, 14 Van Hanh — a garden bakery-cafe, cocoa 45,000₫, a long pastry counter. 08:30–22:00.
- Le Pin Dessert & More, 6 Trieu Viet Vuong — a cafe with its own bakery.
- Ori Coffee & Brunch, 11A Dinh Tien Hoang — coffee roasted on site 45,000–70,000₫ and a cake display; they do have a food menu, but we have not seen it.
Late breakfast and night food
- Sleep past three and the breakfast kitchens are shut. Down Under Dalat at 53–55 Ba Thang Hai runs 07:00–22:00: fish and chips, schnitzel, a burger with a drink 130,000₫.
- Primavera, 24 Truong Cong Dinh — pizza and pasta 110,000–150,000₫.
- McDonald's by the central market is open from 8am to midnight — longer than almost any kitchen in the centre.
- The local breakfast is cheaper and earlier: bánh mì xíu mại at 72 Yersin from five in the morning, 10,000–20,000₫.
What breakfast with coffee adds up to The useful unit is «a dish plus a cup». At An Cafe that is 70,000–110,000₫ a head; at The Oliver 185,000 for a toastie with coffee and 275,000 for the full breakfast; at Moto Laurie from 255,000. For comparison, local bánh mì with street coffee comes to 30,000–50,000. Over a month of daily breakfasts the gap is roughly two months of scooter rent.

A cafe and bistro on a slope where the view belongs to the room rather than the terrace: upstairs the windows run the full height of the wall, with the roofs and hills behind them, fabric draped across the ceiling and tables lined up along the glass. The kitchen is European: breakfast and brunch until 4pm — a big English breakfast, shakshuka, eggs Benedict with salmon, ham and cheddar toasties. A separate page holds an entirely vegan menu that runs all day: bagels on their own buns with cashew cream cheese and carrot 'bacon', an English breakfast without a single animal product, a Buddha bowl.
Worth knowing. Breakfast is served 8am–4pm, the vegan menu until 8:30pm, and the cafe closes at 9pm. Coffee comes off an espresso machine: americano 45k, cappuccino, latte and caramel macchiato 65k, egg coffee and affogato 75k₫; soy milk on request. Vegan dishes are 155–235k₫. VAT is included, but paying by card adds a 3.3% bank surcharge — cash works out cheaper. Downstairs there are two rooms, the homely one with checked tablecloths and another with the coffee sideboard, and outside there are tables under an awning and a large umbrella with the same panorama.
Careful. Closed on Mondays — the one day not to make the trip. Eggs Benedict with salmon are 265k₫: that is a restaurant bill, not the price of breakfast at the cafe next door.

A two-floor restaurant where Vietnamese and European dishes share one menu: local food sits next to eggs benedict, thin-crust pizza and cheesecake. It is neither a local-food spot people visit for bánh căn nor a purely European cafe — it works for a group where some want rice and others want breakfast.
Worth knowing. Open 07:00–22:00. Dishes run roughly 30,000–120,000₫ — a range taken from published menus and reviews, not from our own bill.
Careful. We have not been here: the hours, prices and menu come from public sources, which is why the card is marked «approx.». Check on the spot — or send us the menu.

Long-running and genuinely Italian — wood-fired pizza and hand-made ravioli, not a Vietnamese approximation. The pizza is what people come for: no allowance needed for being in Vietnam.
Worth knowing. Open 12:00 to 22:00 with no days off — good for lunch and for a late dinner. The house sits back from the street and the address has a slash, 54/7: look for the drive off Phan Dinh Phung, right by the corner with Truong Cong Dinh. The phone is a landline and opens under the «Get contact» button — that is how tables are booked. Pizza and pasta run 110,000–150,000₫.
Careful. The kitchen opens only at noon, so breakfast is out.
Xuan Huong, by the central market · 08:00–00:00
Useful when a child refuses local food, or when you just want a taste you know. The menu is the one you are used to, plus rice dishes and a fried chicken line.
Worth knowing. Card payment works, unlike in most local places. Prices sit above street food but below the tourist restaurants around the lake. Open from 8am to midnight — longer than almost any kitchen in the centre, which matters late in the evening when hot food is hard to find.

Where you go when you have had enough rice: fish and chips, schnitzel, bangers and mash, burgers. Owned and run by an Australian, sport on the screens, English everywhere.
Worth knowing. Happy hour from four to six: two local beers or a double for the price of one. Portions are large by local standards.

Food comes straight away, and it suits both the child who only eats familiar things and the adult who is simply hungry.
Worth knowing. Open until 21:30, later than many local kitchens, which close around nine. Busier than the local fried-chicken places and about twice the price.

Worth knowing. The place sits in a lane off Ngo Quyen: the address is 39/15, deep inside hem 39 — better shown to a driver in Vietnamese. Weekdays 07:00–21:00, weekends until 22:00.

Worth knowing. Staff speak good English and the menu is in English. Several terraces on different levels; the upper one with the swing seats fills first.

The expat living room. Australian-run brunch, burgers and pasta, and the third floor doubles as the nearest thing Da Lat has to a coworking space.
Worth knowing. The upstairs floor works as the town's de facto coworking: wifi measures 25–35 Mbps, no day pass, you just order. Busiest between ten and two.

A bakery-cafe in a garden: through a wooden gate wrapped in greenery there is a yard, and at the back a room with a long display of pastry and desserts. Come for the cocoa and the sweet things rather than the coffee. Tea is brewed in pots for the table, so it also works for sitting out the rain in twos and fours.
Worth knowing. Open from 8:30 to 22:00, the hours written on the gate itself. Prices from the menu photographed on 26 August 2026, in thousands of ₫:

The cafe has no car park of its own: the owners ask you to leave the car on Phu Dong Thien Vuong and to respect the odd and even side rule, which is written on a sign by the entrance. Bikes are left at the gate. The full menu is in the photo below.
Careful. The coffee is robusta only — the lowland bean, not the arabica the hills around Da Lat grow. If you came for the local arabica, pick a cafe that names it.

A cafe that serves a proper European breakfast: sourdough toasties with avocado, salmon, prosciutto and halloumi, three kinds of eggs benedict, a full English with sausages, bacon, baked beans and hash brown, omelettes and croque monsieur. The building is green, with a striped awning and the name across the whole wall; inside, the ceiling is painted as a European street of brasseries and tiled roofs, the seats are striped, the bar holds an espresso machine and a juicer, and upstairs there is a glazed veranda with palms and a view over the roofs. Coffee comes both the Vietnamese way and off the machine, right down to a flat white and a yuzu espresso tonic.
Worth knowing. The breakfast kitchen works from 7:30 to 15:00, the cafe itself from 7am to 10pm. Prices from the menu, in thousands of ₫, VAT included:

Careful. The kitchen shuts at three — after that it is drinks only. Cheap it is not: a toastie with coffee comes to 185,000₫ a head, the full breakfast with coffee to 275,000₫.

Breakfast that looks like breakfast at home — British, American and Mexican plates — in a French villa on the quiet ridge above the centre.
Worth knowing. Ten minutes by bike from the lake, on the road where the old villas are. Prices are not published — ask before ordering.
Xuan Huong, next to the centre · 07:00–23:00
Proper Italian — pizza and pasta cooked by people who care about the dough, not a Vietnamese take on it. The one address to know when you want that specifically.
Worth knowing. Open till eleven, which is late for Da Lat — most kitchens here close at nine.
Cam Ly · 08:00–22:00
French and Italian cooking away from the tourist streets — the place locals send you to for a dinner that is not street food.
Worth knowing. Prices are not published. Worth calling ahead in the evening, the room is small.
